We take great pride in what we sell. PLEASE READ ABOUT OUR VIRUS-FREER POLICIES.

At Blue Table Flowers, we are committed to growing plants that are as healthy as possible. To that end, we monitor all plants for signs of virus, including patterning in the leaves and general poor production. We practice stringent sanitation in all stages of growing and harvest, and manage pest pressure in the field. We follow American Dahlia Society (ADS) guidelines to cull plants—anything that looks suspicious is pulled and destroyed. We use a 10% bleach solution to clean tools when harvesting flowers and tubers. We hand dig our tubers to keep any unforeseen contamination to a minimum and dip our harvested tubers in a 10% bleach solution prior to dividing.

In September of 2026, we began the transition to a virus-freer growing model. Information presented at the National ADS show in August of 2026 revealed that virus, while common in dahlias, appears to be more prevalent in varieties that have been on the market more than four years. While this information seemed intimidating at first, it has given us a road map for growing and selling. In coming seasons, we will focus on propagating stock that has been tested for the two most common viruses: Dahlia Mosaic Virus/Dahlia Common Mosaic virus (DMV/DCMV) and Tobacco Streak Virus (TSV), and grow older varieties in fields that are separate from our main fields. Following the experience of Janell at The Pollinator Patch, we will not test asymptomatic plants for Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV ). Please see this excellent article on The Pollinator Patch website for more information about virus, testing, and what to do with your older stock. The American Dahlia Society also provides excellent ways that you can continue to grow older varieties will mitigating the transfer of disease.

As we pivot to a virus-freer farm, we are working to build an increasing selection of dahlias that have been sourced directly from hybridizers and/or have been virus indexed. Until all of our stock has been virus-indexed, we will offer leveled categories of dahlias in our sales. All plants must meet our standards for healthy growing habit and productive flower output, but varieties that have been on the market for more than four years are not included in 2026 testing. Instead, we are focusing on newer varieties, plants that were purchased directly from the hybriders, and dahlias that were cleaned using the meristem process. IN OUR TUBER STORE, you will find GOLD tier and SILVER tier products.

GOLD tier products have tested negative for TSV and DMV/DCMV, the two most common dahlia viruses.

SILVER tier products are newer releases or have been sourced directly from the hybridizer. They have tested negative for TSV, but are awaiting results of DMV testing.

ALL ROOTED CUTTINGS come from tested stock.

OUR SELLING POLICY, in summary:

We do our level best to send you a healthy product. We have very high standards and sell only those items we would want to purchase. If you are an experienced grower, you know that dahlia tubers come in all shapes and sizes; they might look a little funky, but they still yield glorious blooms. Our plants are inspected regularly in the field; tubers are inspected when dug in the fall and when planted in the spring. As we transition to a virus-freer farm, we will offer categories for our tubers based upon the testing of each variety. Diseases, (especially viruses) are common in dahlias and can manifest themselves in new growing conditions, and can occur due to other factors in your own field. We cannot be held accountable for issues that arise once you have planted your tubers. All tubers are sent with verified eyes and in good condition. Please carefully inspect your tubers upon arrival and notify us, with photos included, of any problems within 3 days. As you grow your tubers on, please email us with any questions. We want you to love your dahlias as much as we do.

We are a virus-freer farm, we cannot guarantee virus free stock.
